Processor Temp

Hi,

I have a p4 3 ghz processor on a 925xcv motherboard with 512mb ram, the thing is as soon as i turn on the system it shows the temprature as 62 degrees is this normal temprature? and when i install active monitor is shows warning that temprature limit exceded and i can't seem to install win98 on the system it says that some child devices are running in 32bit mode and system is halted to prevent data corrutption but winxp runs fine.

I have a P4 3.6 EE processor and the temp reach 80 deg(thermal cutoff set at 85) when compiling gentoo. Nothing to worry the new processors can take it (Yes higher temp do reduce chip life but belive me the chip will be obselete long before it gives up the ghost)

You should have a well ventilated cabinet with atleast 3 cooler fans. Mine is P4 2.8 HT, used to hang up in my old cabinet. But after getting a new one supporting space for three fans, its working cool now!

mines only has 1 fan on the cpu that`s it.. and the pc is on 24*7.......
temps are in the 50's... around 54 degrees celsius...

but oh......
i got AMD athlon XP 2400 thoroughbred.....
