Default will converting Fat32 to NTFS format the drive


I would like to know whether it is possible to convert Fat32 file system to NTFS from win Xp (not at the time of installation). If it is possible will the drive be formatted resulting in lose of imp data. Please help.

No, try this command line function
Code:
convert <drive_letter:> /fs:ntfs
Sometimes it may ask you to schedule the task for reboot, jus acceptand reboot.

yes,its possible to convert the file system from fat32 to ntfs using the c'onvert' command in dos mode of winxp OR try using third party software like partition magic.

Thank you guys. Tommorow I will try to convert the file system in my friend's computer(XP with Fat32) without backing up the files/documents.
