Default unable to install os


ON A SYSTEM HAVING 40 GB HD,INTEL 810 MB,CELERON 533 MHZ ;I AM UNABLE TO INSTALL WIN 98 OR XP.IN BETWEEN THE INSTALLATOIN,A MESSAGE "STOP"COMES AND INSTALLER EXITS.THIS HAPPENS AFTER C DRIVE IS FORMATTED AND SOME FILES ARE COPIED.I CAN INSTALL OS ON OTHER SYSTEM USING SAME CD WELL.EARLIER I HAD WIN 98 ON THAT SYSTEM WHICH GOT CORRUPT AND I FORMATTED MY HD USING FDISK.HOW CAN I INSTALL THE OS.

If your cd media is well then maybe u may have problem in HDD.Have u checked it for any errors or bad sectors.Or try partitioning your HDD.
Have u tried to install any other OS.

i repartitoned my hd but same problems.i had checked it till now on win 98,win xp,win xp sp2.even i set all the bios settings to default but problem is not solved.

It may be because of ur BIOS preventing MBR (Master boot record) modification. Try disabling settings similar to 'Virus protection' in the bios setup. It may be enabled by default.
