Default Problem with CD burning

I have SAmsung SW 240B cd writer and win xp pro sp2 and win 2000 as my operating system. 256 MB DDR RAM and 2.4 Ghz Intel P4.

Ever since I last burned 695 MB on a Sony 700 MB CDR disc my CD writer refuses to write more tha 500-510 MB on a single disk.

After that 695 MB on sony disc , i tried to write files from 4 folders (multisession disc using NERO 6.6.0.8) on to a mosaerbaer disc totalling (685MB) but that failed (got stuck at 515MB). I tried to write it on to another Mosaerbaer disc but that too failed. I changed my operating system to win 2000 sp4 and tried to burn the files again but that too failed . I tried that simulation but no error occurred during that.

When I clicked on continue multisession to write some other files on to a multisession disc (cdr was made a multisession disc before this incident, this CDR was mosaerbaer and I wrote 200MB on it).

I later burned an iso (bootable disc) whose size was 680 MB on a Sony disc using Clone CD on Win Xp , no error occurred. I thought that the mosaerbaer discs were at fault. yesterday when i tried to write some files whose size was 580 MB on to Sony disc the same problem occurred it got stuck at about 505 MB and 'invalid write state' was the error which was shown that time.

What is this problem related to??? What should I do??

I am putting the log which i saved yesterday.

Try burning at a lesser speed. I had a similar problem and when i then used to burn at 16x or something, it works out fine.

I had 10 cd pack of mosaerbaer earlier but no problem occured during that time. But I don't know what has happenned to my cd drive that if start a multisession disc it does not write more than 510 MB for the first time. The remaining files have to be burnt then by continuing the multisession disc.

Try this with another branded CD. Are you sure, you didnt change any settings? If you're not try re installing your cd burning software. (preferably after cleaning the registry)

Default Re: Problem with CD burning

I was out for a year.

Now this problem has become more serious.

Whenever I try play a disc using my CD writer I hear a few beeps and my system hangs. This is happening in both the OS ( Win XP pro sp2 and win 2000 sp4) However all the discs can be easily played using my LG DVD drive.

Even when I start my pc I hear 2 beeps , exactly at this pt of time I see led of Samsung drive glow for a second (This is when the POST (power on self test) takes place.)

What to do now?

.
