Startup issue

HOw can we see which programs are listed in the startup list ie when we start the PC.

How can one stop a few unwanted programs not to be ennlisted in the startup list coz it makes the process of starting the computer much slower

I use WinXP

type msconfig on run
Then a dialog box will open then go to startup
Here u can see all the program which run on startup.
uncheck the program u does not want to run on startup.
