Default disk defrag problem

I have win xp sp2
and a samsung 80gb hard disk
my computer restarts when I try to defrag dhe drive with xp in it.
it happens after some time of the defrag.

I olso have win 2k in another partition.
is it ok if I defrag the winxp partition from win 2k.
