2.buy the biggest fastest hard disk possible about 100 or 200 in number

3.get a leased line(higher the speed the better)

4.make a good looking website

5.hire a server for that too

6.sign up with google/yahoo/some_stupid_ad_company for ads

7.go to all forums you know and spam there, popularising your site

8.if too many expenses, sell your house

I would suggest you not doing so. This is a high investment idea which has not gurantee that you can even get a penny back. All the more you might have to fight up against various people like FBI, RIAA, MPAA, etc.

I think that you mean that the laws are not clear. The people who post will not be prosecuted while you might be. Point 1, you will be in trouble. Point 2 people from countries with effective laws will swarm to your site and get you deeper in S**t

When some idiots from other countries post some porn or other stuff in ur upload site, it will be you in trouble. They pot-bellyed men wud arrest you saying that the porn stuff is in ur upload site's server(same as A Bajaj). They dont give a damn s*** abt ur disclaimer or something. So as long as u r in india, never start a upload site unless u have a group of men who rigourously censor everything

Also dont make stupid things like rapidshare by having mere numbers as usernames and passwords. Your site will get hacked like rapidshare was

if you really want to start that site, here are more ROTFLOL suggestions, true in any case though:

TOP TEN ADVICES TO FILE SHARING SITE OWNERS

1.Be money hungry

2.go to US/UK. you can start even a p0rn site LEGALLY, let alone a file sharing site

3.Befriend someone in RIAA,FBI,KGB if possible(lol) to get you outta trouble

4.oh yeah, for that money part, save bill gates's life. you can run a share site even if he gives 1/10000000 of his annual salary he gives as gratitude

5.join seagate's factory and leave with your pants bulging(dont get me wrong, i was talking about the stolen hard disks in the pockets)

6.have a team to spam your site in all forums. its called a marketing team.

7.buy a car. it helps get outta the country when debts get too high.

8.have a gun in the dashboard. it helps get outta the world when debts are at their peaks.

9.buy a house near the law court and a tennis court. the tennis to relax and law to get there easily in case of any cases etc....keep hoping for the best

10.have a team to call themselves "1331 h4x0rs" and advertise your premium accounts in all forums...draws users, see?

you knw what the last point explains why rapidshare is so popular...

I dont think this will be that easy even if u have huge amount of resources...

!. a simple disclaimer will not save u out of all legal hassles believe me....

2. It will be very very hard to popularize it because there are already so many there

3. if u spend too much on ads, u probably are never gonna make it back.... not on day one are going to be too many premium accounts....

4. People will be trying to hack ur website, use ur storage.... get premium accounts and what not.... this is the biggest trouble and u will need a big team to keep it working.... and mind me i do not make a mistake when i say u'll need hackers....

5. it will be hard to keep up ur speed when all this stuff is going on....

6. u will need to hire statistitians for allocation of data, distribution of bandwidth.... u cant do it all blindly...
If wrongly allocated, some place u will have scarcity of resources and other, u will have them lying waste....

In short.... it is not all that simple friend......

but u can do a simpler thing... create a public ftp... provide people with logins... let them upload-download things, give premium accounts... set proper user permissions and get it working... but there will still be legal problems

but hey, nobody is gonna care about an ftp that much in india... i men the athourities... unless u get something very "HOT" up there

There can be possibilities. In case any terrorist utilises your server for terrorist stuff or by normal users for warez, etc. you have a chance of being emailed by FBI, etc.
