Default HELP!! URGENT

Yesterday, I noticed my computer was running very slow and today there was a burning smell coming from my CPU. I opened the cabinet and checked the fan which is working properly. Please advise what could the problem be?

its got to be SMPS,
i too have experineced this arnd 2 years back...

change the SMPS....after cleaning out all the accumulated dust..keep the cabinet open..place it in an open area....and if possible try to pin point the exact burning place....

nd ofcourse as others suggested...full pc config needed!

u open both the side of ur cabinet and if u work try to keep the fan or a/c on .

one thing more if u recently added any hardware remove it

get ur computer serviced by a engineer,if u can do it is good

i have p4 3ghz HT with intel 865gbf motherboard.
512ddr ram, segate and samsung hardisk, mercury cabinet.

the computer takes a lot of time to startup now.

i keep the pc in my bedroom but the room is not very airy and also i don't have ac in the room.

now how should i clean the smps.... should i blow the dust out with the help of a vaccum cleaner???
