I don have a DVD drive yet and hence planning to buy a new one My point is i have a LG writer, so should i exchange it for a DVD combo drive or keep it and buy a new DVD drive.

Also can you guys help me to choose a cheap and good one (since i will have to buy from my OWN pocket money ). Pls mention the prices if you know. THX in advance

The Sony DVD-Writer reviewed in Digit. Just picked it up and it's a gem. Costs Rs. 2900 incl. taxes.

Generally almost everybody suggests Sony DRU 810A but some people say that it is choosy about the media and dont write to cheap media. Any way I bought it 3 months back and I have used diff cheap discs (Rs. 12-15) and never had any problem. (BTW never bought any branded discs). Also it reads moderately scratched discs. When I bought it from Rashi, it cost me Rs.3900 and now I think it is at least Rs.1000/- less.

you will need to buy an external usb casing for the drive.
then fix the drive in the casing and carrry it all around!
