How many maximum no of partition in disk

my question is we can create how many max. partition in hard disk for example in 80 GB disk. Also is it related to our disk capacity or not. Please reply

means 24 but then u r not able to enable ur cd-dvd rom/RW

In windows, I too think it is 24. In linux, I think it may depend on the distro/file system.
The size of your disk too contrains the max number of partitions you can create as each partition needs to be of a certain minimum size.

I would like to add here that u can create at most 4 primary partitions in windows (using basic disks, not dynamic ones)
