im a student in school and i need a laptop
im a student but i need my own computer for research for my projects. im thinking of using this for atleast 10 yrs. can you recommend a goood  one from a reputed brand for a budget of 40,000.  .
also pls vote on my poll, coz im thinkaing of buying an ipod. so i wanna know how many people would prefer what.

I would suggest you to get an acer laptop. I too have it, it is quite good and few models come under 40k range too. Secondly, I would suggest ipod video.

Well, its not possible to buy a laptop 2day and use it for 10 years.
Sure it may workbut it'll be useless
Technology is changing fast and ur laptop will be obsolate within 5-6 years at maximum.
So forget abt tht.
And acer laptop is a good choice.

i recommanded IBM Thinkpad.. it is the best u can get.. 2nd is DELL and 3rd Sony Viao

Y not....i've been using this laptop since 21 years and its working fine.
I see no problem.
It can even play DOOM 3 in Ultra mode without any problems

please stick to the subject.....
no one can use a laptop for more than 5 years as after 5 years nothing new will run on it.
i recommend a dell laptop with atleast 256 mb ram

915g not enough to comfortably play any new game.....even with a 3.0 ghz p4 and 1024mb ram....does anyone know a solution(plz dont tell me to add a graphics card...)

Technology is going so fast I think 5 years is also a large value. BTW ur laptop ll run fine but it ll not be updated with the concurrent technology features

well i'd vote in favour of acer and hp/compaq laptops. for 40k you'll get a very basic lappy from dell and lenovo. these are costly. do post in ur requirements (config)

Regarding laptop i thin IBM thinkpad will be a good choice with at least 256MB of RAM. It is a MUST now !!

btw, thinkpad at 40k are low end ones. so if budget is modest i'd suggest u go in for acer or compaq models.

Apple iBook 12 inch for 58,300...try it out, you will extend your budget for sure. Though you might want to wait for the Intel based ones....around the corner.
