Stock prices simplified

I am writing a software for which retriving stock prices is very important. I want to know if there exists any site which provides such facility meaning just give the company id or symbol and fetch the rates. It is necessary that the rates it shows back are in HTML or XML format because I will have to write a program to analyze the text and retrive the rates from it.

I searched for some RSS feeds which give only stock rates but did not find any.

does BSE provide any java APIs for doing so? How come Sites like indiainfoline has applets showing stock rates?
