Is it a commercial product or a GNU product???

Mandrake is a commercial distribution and quite a good one.... It has nothing to do with GNU Project or FSF in particular.... their job is to collect all the Free Software/ Open Source software available and bundle them up into couple of CDs....

man if you want free and good version of linux, try Fedora Core 2 from RedHat. its very good. www.redhat.com

Mandraek 10 which I used for 4 hrs, is the only Linux Distro I found 80% close to windows in usage, however I was never able to figure out how to uninstall an application I installed

let me guess, you tried to find the add/remove programs applet in the control panel and then gave up????

This is not windows man.. try reading the documentation.
