Pls Help: IE not saving jpg but bmp

hi every1, i hav a problem, i'm unable to save any image such as jpg,gif,etc as the file types they are i'm able to save them only as bmp files... this problem has started after i deleted some files norton av thought to be containing viruses... and ya i'm running win xp... pls can some1 help me with this...

whenever windows starts i get an error saying WJView Error - Could not find main. someting of like that.

is this in any way connected with my problem?
pls advise on how to eliminate this error.

This problem occurs only with specific sites...

Try to use a different browser like Firefox coz I reckon that you use IE..
Try some other sites too....

no its happening for all sites... i know its an IE problem, i would prefer to continue using IE. if u can advise on how to rid IE of this problem?
