Try making an image file of that DVD using Nero CD-DVD writing software.
If you don't know how to do that, then please let us know.

If you have Nero 6 there is an option that you can directly write a DVD into VCD's,Nero will take care of all the troubles

well mate.. i got good news for you!
how about a programme that has..

Easy to use user interface , No complicated settings to worry about,
Rip a DVD movie in as little as one click of the mouse, Selectable output to VCD, XVCD, SVCD & XSVCD compliant files, Ripping of any program chain on the DVD, Selectable output to either a Bin/Cue image or Mpeg files, Automatic Chapter points in your (X)(S)VCD when outputting to a Bin/Cue Image, Fit a full movie on one CD-R in XVCD or XSVCD mode, Rip DVD files for conversion at a later time

and above all.. it's totaly free!! no water marks.. no trial versions.. not hidden money making tricks! just pure utility! trust me.. i've been using this tool for the last 4 years!!
