well the so called most popular download manager... is here with its new version... they say its good... yes may be their engine is good.... but personaly i liked the 7.4 interface... as i found the DAP utility bar in the DAP main windows is very use full which is missing here in the v8

I just tried it myself, seems good, but now i have switched to flashget as i get resume in rapidshare with it & firefox

The integration with IE is superb in DAP, however not the same in Firefox\opera, try browsing Quicktime.com in Firefox with DAP installed, it will download a gif file insted of playing the embeded QT movie there

also the downloadwith .7+ extension which is really good with DAP 5.3 doesn't work with DAP 7 & 8, however it worked fine with DAP 5.3, the npdap.dll file is the problem, the old v5.3 npdap.dll works though

the new interface is a bit tedius, since i m used to the old interface, but it can be lived with anyway

I found DAP 8 slower than flashget and IDM. I used its super acclerated mode but still gives lower speed and sometimes reduces upto 28 or 25 kbps. Flashget generally give 30 to 35 kbps and IDM is the fastest. i never goes below 30 kbps.

IDM is easy to use and user friendly.. Only feature worth mentioning in DAP 8 is file shreddr.

IDM and DAP 8 almost download in the same time. DAP "wastes" some time finding for the fastest download site and then it starts downloading. Whereas IDM immediately starts downloading and finishes in the same time as that of DAP though DAP mite show some extra bandwidth (I guess the DAP does not look for fastest site but it starts downloading immediately... 'can be disputed by techies') thus making users believe it downloads at faster speed.(by not taking into account the time required for searching fastest d/l site)

Does this new DAP8 version support resume after Time Out?

I hv used DAp in past and found this problem, whenever there is a Timeout DAP stops the download and doesnt resume the download automatically, I had to resume it manually!

So does this new version hv this feature?

DAP Free edition contains Adware. Your AntiSpyware programs may detect a lot of baddies within its folder.
