Default Dual channel memory


hi
i wanted 2 know , wat is dual channel memory ( ram ) . is it applicable only 4 ddrram . also do all mobo 's support it . wat does it do exactly ? is it true tht it does double the amount of work it is supposed 2 do ?

basically dual channel is supported by the mobo .
u dun get separate ram chips
in this u use 2 identical ram chips in the colour coded ram slots on the dual channel supported mobo
so say instead of using one 512 mb chip we use 2*256 mb ram chips ...
this way we double the bandwidth used by the ram .. hence.... speedier ram ... therefore ... better performance
most new mobos support it .. not all tho
