desktop items probs!

hi,

my desktop items switch places automatically. i mean, i arrange them in 1 order and after a while i fiund them in completly different order... why does this happen? how do i make sure that the icons are in the place where i kept them. i use auto arrange facility. thats not the prbs. they interchange positions and i dont want it. help me out.

Well, i'm not sure if this works:
.Right click on desktop and choose arrange icons by "Modified"

This was overriding your arrangement as auto arrange had also been enabled so was Arrange by...Name, Size, etc.

nope. it dint solve the prbs. stil sorting itself! i hav no clue reg. this. i mistakenly hav applied som sort of tweaking!

go to gpedit --- user config++desktop++active desktop and enable prohibit changes..... hope that it will help you ....

that will prevent any modification to desktop

usign auto arrange will arrange acc to a preset style

DO NOT auto arrange
just keep "align to grid" selected
now arrange ur icons the way u want it
and it'll stay
