Default Card Conflicts !!!?

My current System Configuration :-

D865GBF Intel Motherboard
P4 2.8 Ghz Processor with HT
512 Mb RAM DDR
80 Gb Samsung Puma Harddisk
Windows XP Professional v5.1.2600 with SP2

Earlier I had A Creative 4.1 Sound Card (Model Number- CT4750)
and an ASUS G-Force v9400 Magic Graphics Card too...

One fine day..the monitor wouldn get switched on...no matter what i did...the little green light just kept blinking. So i called my local system service fellow and he came and removed both the sound and graphics card...said they were in conflict...now my system works fine..

Does that mean that both of those cards are useless now? I had no problem for close to a year with both the cards on my system...why did the problem appear suddenly?

Any idea anybody...I have a feeling that lots of people have faced this problem with the monitor in the recent past...a lot of my friends scattered across india have mentioned the same problem to me...
