Default why so low 3d marks


1st my config
amd 64 3000+
msi k8mm-ilsr (on board grapics via/s3 unicrome 2)
matrix 512mb 400 fsb ( this ram because the mobo did not supporte hynix)
samsung 80gb sata hdd
no additional graphic card.

now my friend's config
intel 3.06 ht prescott
intel 865 gbf (on board graphics intel extreem grapics 2)
hynix 256mb 400 fsb
seagate 80gb baracuda(ide not sata)
no additional graphic card.

now my question for u all is


on running 3d mark 03 on his pc it have 138 3d marks wihout overclocking
and
on running 3d mark 03 on my pc it gave me 109 3d marks
and on oc(from2.0 to 2.1) it gave 112 3d marks.
why why why
what is the weak link in my config
and for a mean time i am not going to buy graphic card.
please help.

Even though ur config is way better than ur friends, S3 onboard sucks ! Thats y ur frnd got a slightly better score with his Intel onbrd gfx. And dude 3dmark03 is meant for gfx cards and not for testing onboard solutions.

3317 is my best on 3D Mark'03

Date: 2004-10-10
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 2250 MHz
GPU: ATI RADEON 9600 Series
441 MHz / 241 MHz
OS: Microsoft Windows XP
Res: 1024x768@32 bit

3dmark 03 is mainly a GPU test ... in other words processor or other components will not make much difference ... use PC Mark 04 or (if you want to test gaming performance) 3d mark 01 SE
The reason his scores higher is because the intel 865 is better than s3 onboard.

yup ujjwal is right , thats precisely what you need to do , run pcmark instead of 3d marks , cause the test which you ran just tests weather intel or S3 is better and i guess you got ur answer

thanx guyes u really stopped my tension regarding 3d marks other wise i knew my pc is better than p4 and as u guys said, tomorow first thing to do is to run pc mark 04 and 3d mark 01se and then ill show him.
i have one more question for u all
rather than graphics, is my mobo(msi k8mm-ilsr) good and is it equal to asus k8v-x.

both are based on the same chipset, and personally ,i use both MSI/Asus , so i dont see any difference , even if there was,its hard to otice that .

It's just a regular Radeon 9600, not a SE, pro, or XT, with 128mb ddr ram.
