Maybe you're downloading from a source that can only upload at 5-6 kbps. Run a bandwidth test at cnet.com or download a torrent with a high number of seeds.

means that he did run a BW test. first of all, y do u say that there is no use complaning them? they ought to provide a solution if there is a problem with them. are u sure there are no viruses/spywares in ur system? cud u post your hijack this file report? unless u give us more info on it.. there is no way to narrow down the issue.

well,if u've ever dealt with mtnl,u'll know wat i'm talkin bout when i say that they cant give a solution.
this is their typical answer to ny complaint
-"pls take out the power cable out of the router and put it back inside again.now is it working?no?go to internet options put a check mark at all the default options.still not working.okay sir i'll register ur complaint and our technician will get in touch with u"

till date their "technician" has never got in touch with me.i doubt if they even have one.
nywaze i checked my speed again at cnet....and it showed 21kbps!!!!!
i jus did a spyware check with webroot spysweeper and deleted wateveah was found.
i'll post my hijack this log also.

Sometimes removing an entry isn't enough. Download Ad-aware, Spybot, MS Antispyware. Update and run each of them.

Yea spywares, trojans, adwares etc eat a lotof internet bandwidth and so do the automatic updates of windows, firewall(zonealarm) and other applications!
I suggest you turn off automatic updates of all the known applications and use a firewall like zonealarm(turn its automatic update too). Now you are the one who will give access to programs for net use! Give permission to internet explorer, firefox etc.
Also as suggested use good anitspyware programs for cleanup of ur system. I suggest u use spysweeper and lavasoft adaware!
Also on windowsxp u surf on 80% of actual net speed by default as 20% is reserved for updates and services etc.So free up that 20% manually for your use!

That is incorrect.[link]
Quote:
...One hundred percent of the network bandwidth is available to be shared by all programs unless a program specifically requests priority bandwidth. This "reserved" bandwidth is still available to other programs unless the requesting program is sending data. By default, programs can reserve up to an aggregate bandwidth of 20 percent of the underlying link speed on each interface on an end computer. If the program that reserved the bandwidth is not sending sufficient data to use it, the unused part of the reserved bandwidth is available for other data flows on the same host...

ok but still u shud enable 100% net speed for xp!
And for jughead......u'll learn by urself for zonealarm which apps to allow. If ur not sure about the application just google for it. If its a spyware or malicious prog. then deny its network access!
