k more info is necessary.

(i) when u boot up, do the LED's on the keyboard flash
(ii) u say tht power goes to the mobo:how? does the LED on the mobo glow?
(iii) when u press the power button, do the fans start to run? does the led on ur optical drive (cd/dvd rom/writer) flash?
(iv) does any LED on the system panel glow or flash?
(v) if ur system is a p-4, hv u connected the 4 pin processor connector, if any?
(vi) if u had disconnected the leads for the cabinet panel switches, did u connect them properly?
(vii) do the LED's on the RJ-45 (LAN) port light up?
(viii) does boot up floppy seek occur?

Try resetting the CMOS to defaults. If you can't locate the jumper, take out the CMOS battery (coin shaped) and replace it after five minutes, n try booting up

If it is onboard AGP, hv u connected that lead properly?

Maybe you touched any sensitive part os your motherboard. You must always hold on to some metal peice for few secs to remove any static current, before you touch any internal parts

my config :810E FST mercury mobo,128 ram,p3 processor,20 gb hdd,dvd rom , cd writer .
about the piece of metal , i had used a screw driver to remove the screws of the optical drives n the cabinet .how does this affect the mobo ???is it about static electricity ? how can i get the mobo to work again ?
As for d , i'm going thru the steps . will post soon .

well, problems due to static electricity, if they occur, are generally too late to correct. in other words, if static electricity has fried ur mobo, its time to bid adieu....newayz its an old one....since its a p3 mobo, u can omit the part abt the 4 pin processor power....though using a screwdriver to remove the screws won't cause any harm....as long as u hvnt scratched the mobo or anything....in fact, i positively can't think of any other way to remove the screws

cheers.
