(i) Dual channel memory is something like raid-0 for your ram. In a single channel memory, 64 bits of data are read/written to at once. In dual channel mode, the computer writes 128 bits (64bit for each channel) at the same time. So you experience twice the speed of a single channel setup on a dual channel system.
(ii) Socket 754 cpus don't have the dual-channel circutry in them (amd64 has memory controller in the cpu, not in the mobos)

I have 6600gt from leadtek, but since my case is well ventillated, i don';t see any overheating artifacts. But if u overclock the gpu/memory, then you will start seeing artifacts sometimes.
