Default more devices than pri & sec mas & slave

hi,

i already hav 2 hardisks(IDE) and 2 DVD roms(reader + writer) connected. i am in need of more space and planning to get another hardisk. I hav 865 chipset.. but am in fear to get a SATA coz, the earlier one(120 B) got burnt. how can i get more IDE hardisks connected? also, i hav external hardisks. but i need to connect IDE controlled hardisks only. is there any way?

SATA HDDs are usually better in performance than PADA HDDs. Your SATA HDD failure might have been an stray incidence, but you can go for SATA HDD inspite of it... If you want, you can go for a different brand (if you had used Samsung, try Seagate and if you had used Seagate, try Samsung... or go for another brand such as Western Digital, Hitachi or Maxtor).

Dont know if you can go for more than 4 IDE devices...

wat do u mean by " also, i hav external hardisks."

whether u connect another HD on the IDE is totally dependent on ur mobo

most mobos have only 2 ide connectors

and these days SATA is the norm

i advice u to go for SATA,

if not with no IDE connectors available ,external HD is ur only option
which will twice as tht of a SATA disk !!!

i think u better understand how ur SATA disk got burnt !!!

i am sure its not coz its a SATA disk !!!

take my word and go for SATA

if u r still reluctant then check these for the IDE pci cards
they cost around 1300 bucks which i think is a waste
check this link for them

Go for Western Digital or Maxtor SATA.
