Pentium vs Celeron

what are the differences between pentium processors and celeron processors.Why r pentiums more faster ?

is there a major difference or one can go with celeron without aving to sacrifice a lot

there is a big difference mate...celerons r budget processors so they r basically scled down verions of the pentiums....but if u will mainly use a computer 4 office work and internet surfing, then celerons r a good option as they r cheaper than pentiums...but if u want a high end PC that u will use 4 gaming and other heavy stuff, then u need a P4 or an athlon...

the very basic diff is in the L2 cahce........some times pIII 800 runs more faster tan Celeron 1 gz due to huge diff in cache
