Default RAID help


What is a RAID controller?
If i have a motherboard which has inbuilt raid support then is it neccessary to have seperate raid controller?plz provide any useful website to understand raid completly.

When they say that your mobo supports raid, they mean that a raid controller is builtin. So no need for an external controller unless you run out of ide ports.

RAID is reduntant array of inexpensive/independent disks

Read a bit more about software & hardware raid. Genrally (until its a scsi) all raid solution on motherbords are software raids. You donot get that great a performance jump from them.
