Default Automatic Updates

Windows XP automatically checks for updates, same is true with norton. But the problem comes here that they download and install it. Does anybody know where these files are stored. With the amount of different things we try, it is almost impossible for me to let my xp survive for more than a month. So, i dont want to end up in downloading the same updates again and again. Plz ans at the earliest as my xp has already started giving problems and i will have to install a fresh copy quiet soon, and i want to backup those updates.

PS: norton updates doesn't mean the defination updates, but the search engine updates and other stuffs.

For Norton AntiVirus updates, back up this folder & replace it after you reinstall XP.
X:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs

You can back up the entire Symantec Shared folder which includes the scan engine updates as well.

XP updates are downloaded to
X:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Just back up this folder.

There was a thread which explains this in detail, just search for it.
