Default verticle lines appear in monitor

i HAVE recenthly bought a new pc.

config:
Amd athlon64 3000+
MSI RS482M2-IL MB
512 MB DDR 400 MHz RAM
80 GB SATA HDD

whenever i start it verticle lines appear, not able 2 install winxp because pc turns off in between. Help!

Firstly...did u try to degauss the monitor....


secondly, do u have good smps...
