With Freehand and Copernic becoming free, the desktop search battlefield is suddenly gaining lot of attention.

Sorry, buddy, but I couldn't find any article on desktop searches on your blog page. But I've used Altavista Discovery and the HotBot Desktop Search Toolbar and judging by those, Copernic Desktop Search seems to be so much more refined and better. It's good but I don't find myself using it all that much, though

Interestingly enough, I am curious as to what Google will do with their Desktop Search tool. It looks like the basic stuff is already in place as can be seen in the Google Deskbar. Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure, content based search and filing does not have to wait until Longhorn. Yippee!
