Default DVD Cutting - help needed

Hi all,

I have a few DVD movies. I dont want to loose the quality of the pictures. Their original size is arn 0.99 GB. I want to cut them into smaller files of the order of 650 - 700MB. SO that I can burn them in a CD. I dont mind wasting some CDs.

I am also not interested in the quality of sound.

Please suggest me some good freeware tools for it.
Also advise me whether the conversion from DVD format to mpeg or wmv format is viable. What would be the time taken, quality, etc.,...

Regards,

use Xilisoft DVD Ripper, it has some awesome facility for the convertion as well as audio. as we know that DVD uses 5.1 dolby for sounds, Xilisoft have a option to render the sound to 2 ch. you can convert ur DVD as 74 mins/80mins
