Big Big Big Problem With Folder Security... Plz Help...
Hello Friends!
I had been using Folder Security Personal 3 in Win XP SP2 with FAT32 as my file system. Because I was facing some problems with Windows, I decided to format the system and reinstall Windows. My OS was installed in C: and all data in E:. In E drive I had a folder, say abcd and inside that folder there was another folder say xyz. I had hidden the xyz folder with Folder Security Personal 3. While taking the backup of my data, I forgot to deactivate Folder Security and copied the folder "abcd", thinking that it will automatically copy the hidden folder along with. After that I removed all my partitions, created new partitions and formatted all drives with NTFS as the file system. The problem now is the hidden folder is no where.
That folder had very important documents and if thats gone, I am gone. Pleaseeeeeee help me out of this. Is there any way to recover my data back.
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee help. I shall be really very grateful.
Thank you.

first what u have done..... u deleted the partition, then re-create and formated with NTFS. i can't say that u can recover the data. i'm giving you 2 ways.. might be it will be help you.
1. reinstall the Folder Sec. as before. then try to locate the folder. [i used FolderLocker, after somedays i just uninstalled the software. i got prob with my hidden folder.. then i reinstall it and it works]
2. try this data recovery tool from Novell. its a nice tool. you can get it from http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/...ads/salv98.zip
first .. recover it [2] then go to [1]. hope it will work

Download GDB ('Get Data Back'). It can recover lost data from formatted harddisks as it was like before performing format. I hope you can get your data back. If you face problem getting 'GDB' then PM me to to tell you the address.

Thank you all! It is nice to see people concerned. Well, I have managed to recover all my data except one Word document, which unfortunately was the most important one. I am posting the details here as it may help some one else who faces such problems.
Mistakes I Did:
1. Copied the folder on which I had applied the hidden feature of Folder Security Personal 3. This caused to copy only those files and folders which were free from FSP3.
2. Removed the present partition and created a new partition.
3. Changed my file system from FAT32 to NTFS.
4. Reinstalled Windows XP.
Methods Of Data Recovery:
1. Never Copy any thing on the HDD till the time you havent restored your data files as this could possibly overwrite your data.
2. Install O&O Disk Recovery Software. Its one of the best software to receover data even after formatting. It also has a feature to find files even if you have created a new partition or changed you file system. Although it takes a hell of a time as it goes searching for files sector by sector, who's gonna mind if you can atlast recover your files. At last it will present you with all files matching your given criteria, but the problem is that it wont have the same file name, but instead will allot it's own file name. Now you will have to manually open each and every file to check which are the ones that is of use to you. This really worked for me and I was really surprised to see that it even recovered the files that I had deleted about 2 years back.
Thats it guys. Hope you wont face any such problems.
Thanks again...

Hello Friends!
One more problem. As I wrote in my previous reply, I stll am left with one Word document to be recovered. Well, I am presented with a huge number of DOC files by the recovery software, but the problem is that when ever I try to open the file, it asks for file conversion. if I open it as it it, it appears to be all machine language. I dont know why, but I have a gut feeling that my file is one amongst them. Now, what can I do to recover my file. I am attaching the message it gives so that you can refer before helping me out.
Thank you.
