Default Please help regarding HTML pages

lately i have started having a strange problem....... whenever i select any html file for opening it , the system hangs for about 3 secs and then the windows explorer message comes that an error has caused and do you want to send an error report. then the windows explorer blanks off and again reappears. though the html files can be opened if i go thru the open option in the internet explorer window... internet explorer is working fine.

operating system: windows xp prof
ie version : 6

Try using any other browsers as your default browser.

There are 2 ways of doing this.
1. Check out the preferences/options in the new browser.
2. Select a html file. Keep the Shift Key pressed and Right click the file. You will find a new option called "Open with...". Click on that. In the new window that opens, enable "Always use this program ....". Now select the new browser from the list and click on Ok

Second way seems somewhat complicated, but works in all the cases when you want to change fille association in Windows
