his drive must be a combo drive i.e. DVD-Rom/CD-RW. There is NO software that enables a cd drive to read DVDs as it is a hardware limitation.

Nah cd rw drive cannot read a dvd under any circumstances as both use laser of different wavelenghts.
DVD's use red laser at 650 nm whereas CD uses 780nm semi-conductor laser(source:wikipedia).
So, I think your friend is lying. Its either a cd or he's got a combo-drive.

Even if such a software worked, the DVD would appear in the drive as an unreadable CD because the laser is simply not capable of reading those discs.

You probably click the submit button more than once which explains the double posts. I am locking this thread now. If anyone wants it re-opened, PM me or any other Mod with a good enough reason.

Enough of spam.
Can you run safari in your windows or linux. You need apple hardware for the same. The software thing is ridiculous. I dont know if this thread was closed b4, but I am closing it now, anyways if anyone can shed more light on the software, PM any mod.
