Default Cd Rom not reading disk ...need real help please


i have sony cd writer which was working fine up to before some hours
i was burning 3 video disc and all of sudden after burning 1 cd
suddenly the buring 2nd disc falied ....

then the cd writer is not reading any cd...

There is cd rom icon but when i open it there is no files though there are files in cd...
The auto run of cd has been stopped...

there is cd rom writer in bios

and there is cd rom writer in device manager as well and says the device is working properly

so whats the problem
is my cd rom writer damaged..it was bought just one month ago

the computer has it is working properly,but when i open the cd rom icon in my computer no fles shows
o object

so what the problem
i really need help
another thing
i have macfee av installed and every computer start it use to give message diolog box ..
macfee av is running
macfee firewall is...

but suddenly it is also stopped(that diolog box pop up when computer starts) ...however the macfee av runs in system tray bar ...when i scan my comp
no virus

so whats the problem
please some body help
i am ruinning XP service pack 1
with sony cdrw....

is cd rw damaged or i have feeling tht some setting is casuing problem
when i insert disc it makes some noise tries to read disc then stop
but when i open icon from my computer no files

the best way to check is to pop in a bootable cd and see if it successfully boots. if it doesn't then ur cd-writer is screwed up. send it back for replacement.
