Default CMOS battery replacement


Hey guys i jus wanted to ask a simple but an important querry tat:
WAT IS THE DURATION AFTER WICH WE SHUD REPLACE THE CMOS BATTERY (with a new one) on our mobo??

Is there any speicific period like years or so?? Or any specific indication tat the CMOS battery shud be replaced by a new one? Does an old battery hv any bad effect on the system ??

I've 8 year old PI machine...never replaced its battery yet....but still working fine.

if u start gettin cmos checksum error
or ur system clock is always inaccurate no matter how many times u change the time ..
thats when u should replace the cmos battery
no need otherwise
there is no specific period

Hey thanx alot theraven but one more querry Mr.Mod....Where will i get this Cmos Checksum Error (if at all i hd to get an errer like this) Will it be at the WINDOWS Bootup or where??

You will get the CMOS checksum error when you start your computer During Power On Self Test .
