what's the performence benchmark of the following configuration or simply tell me will it be better to take the following assembled computer of the specified components.........in brackets i have mentioned what i think to be good)

Intel Pentium Processor 3.0 GHz 64-bit with HT technology
512 MB RAM (which one)
120 GB HDD (Samsung/Seagate) (i also want to use linux so should i go 4 SATA or PATA or ATA) and what about RAID what is it?
