Default do i need an audio card?please help

i am planning to buy a creative 4:1 speaker system
i have an asrock 865gv chipset mobo.
I read that it supports 6 channel audio.but many of my friends say i really need a new audio card to use the speaker system.
i just want to know if i can use my onboard sound card itself.

First of all, do not buy the 4400 speaker system as it lacks a center channel which does not give you true surround effect in DVD movies. Better put in some extra cash and go in for the 5200 (5.1).

Secondly, for the 4400 speaker system onboard sound is good enough. But if you plug it into say an Audigy 2, sound quality is increased but only slightly. I'm telling you this out of experience, I had the same...

If at all you do feel like buying a soundcard, go for the Creative Soundblaster Live series, Audigy or X-fi would be an overkill for your speakers...

Other low quality soundcards are not better than the onboard sound...
