Default problem in recording , restarts computer


one of my friends pc had got problem , whenever he connects his mic on computer and opens recorder option in entertainment and accesories , it opens but when he clicks on button to record , suddenly every time computer gets restarted, he had also formatted and reinstalled windows xp , but the problem remains same , while the same mic and recorder function works well on other computers !
what do u think problem may be ??

may b its not a software problem... rather looks to me that its a hardware problem... try obtaing a sound card (any low end old card with driver will b fine) then try recording from there... if it works out then definately a hardware problem...

u better take the mobo to the service center (if it in the warrenty..)..

Yes.I run RHEL 4 Linux also with no problem on recording.between my mobo
is brand new intel 915GAV running perfectly.
