Default HP Support

I am a subscriber of digit. So I want to share my views on customer support provided by IT companies. I have a pavilion n5250 laptop of HP. It went faulty and the HP refused to repair it in India saying that the product was not marketed in India. They suggested that I take it to US for repairs. (cost incurred would have got me new laptop!). However, a local company has repaired it by just replacing an IC in power board. The laptop was back with me in 14 hrs. Why cant companies like HP be concentious and provide full support - they should develop competencies to do so.

you didn't buy the laptop in India did you?

if there is no international warranty on a laptop, the company has every right to refuse service.

If however there is intl. warranty and they refused to provide service.. then you shud take strict action...

Actually HP is better than many companies. But customer service is only one small regard in that matter. HP has also merged with others like Compaq which was much worse.

One of the main reasons they do not provide support is, HP like many others do not fix their products. They replace the faulty part. In your case, they just replace the entire computer, send the computer to Malaysia for repairs etc. So they might just not have the support available in India for such things.
