Default want 2 buy a new pc !!!!!!!!!!

hi
aashish here
i want 2 upgrade my pc . But i have a lot of doubts
first let me give u some backgrnd information -
i am currently using a P3 500 mhz , 40 gb hdd , 128 mb sdram,intel 810 motherboard

now as i said i want 2 upgrade . i will keep my old hard disk in d new config. So tht leaves 3 things -------

1.PROCESSOR - plz advise me whether i should i go 4 an INTEL P4 or an AMD . i have heard tht nowadays AMD r performance wise much better than INTEL P4. Also thr is some 64 bit AMD processor . plz tell me its cost
But is thr some heat problem with AMD. Basically i want 2 play games n little bit of ms-office work . so kindly suggest.

2.MOTHERBOARD- wat motherboard should i go 4 if i take a INTEL P4. my only pre - requirement is tht it should have a graphic card slot . but i dont want 2 buy a graphic card now . i will but nxt yr.

same situation wid AMD . Which mobo + it shld have AGP slot

ps. i want 2 play games basically

3.how much ram shld i go 4 for optimum performance
also which company's

4. also which cabinet shld i go 4 . it shld look good plus have a sturdy smps

I live in mumbai and will mostly buy this new config frm LAmington Road

so kindly suggest configurations and corresponding costs

thnx a lot in advance

AASHISH

go for amd 64 ...if u want to go for gaming .....and if u want to buy a graphics card later than buy some nforce2 ultra Mobo with onboard graphics...go for asus or msi depending upon support..i really can't tell the price as i m not from mumbai...

if u want to go for intel u have two options (as u want onboard graphics also ) either go for 86fGBF or 915 ......the diffrence is 865GBF has AGP 8X expansion slot while 915 has PCI -16 x slot ....though pci 16x cards are not common yet but they might become common in a year .....so u can go for 915 if u want to go for intel...

depends on ur price range
i suggest an amd 64 with a nforce3 mobo from asus ..
if u can afford it then min 512 mb ddr 400 ram from CORSAIR ... if not ... hynix is a standard ...
( im sayin DDR and not DDR2 bcuz im suggesting AMD and those mobos dun support ddr2 yet)
4) well there are a lot of cabintets ard
with varying prices
for 1500 a good choice is the zebronics lava cabinet
get a min 350W power supply tho i suggest u trade it in for a 400W atleast .... and form a good company like say powersafe ( i would say antec but they are very very costly)
again u have the moolah
go for antec cabinets and PSU's
they wont cost u anythign less than 5k MINIMUM !!

prices shouldnt be much different than these

1. Processor: Definitely AMD 64 since it is cheap and future ready. 64 bit now and has good performance in 32 bit env too.

2. Mobo: Get a Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M it has onboard video. Ur second option wud be a MSI K8MM-ILSR powered by S3 unichrome onboard gfx. Both these mobos are socket 754.

Edit: The ASROCK K8Upgrade-760GX looks good and the best thing is that u can upgrade to 939 socket proccesor in the future.

http://www.asrock.com/product/produc...rade-760GX.htm

3. If u want good performance get atleast 1Gb of corsair, Kingston or Trancend RAM. Though 512 will suffice.

4. Get VIP cabinets or Lava frm zebronics that will suffice ur cabinets needs.

winXP is perfect ... dun use anything else
unless u plan to go for linux
in which case u cant play most games
zebronics lava has a 350w smps im quite sure
AMD no more has any heating problems ... its a myth now ..
intel 915 - intel 865gbf = 2k
BOTH INTEL MOBOS WITH NO EXTRA FEATURES !!!!!!
asus boards are ofcourse more expensive ... u get a 915 for 12k .. with wifi ...and a lot of other features ..
u will get lan onboard in most mobos dun worry
all mobos now have an agp 8x slot ... unless u go for an ancient config !!! so thats also not a problem
and infact if u go for 915 ull get pretty good temp graphics till u can afford a good PCI-E Card .. which could be a good norm
dont buy a pci-e card yet tho.. wait till the transition to the next year ... its future ( and also price ) will become more clear

@imgame ... my mistake with the nforce3 sorry !

If you go for AMD64 and want onboard grafix then a motherboard based on SIS 760GX is a better choice because the onboard grafix on it is far better compared to VIA.
