Proxies are legal (read their terms and conditions if they have)

Proxies are used for two purposes

1)anonymous surfing (will hide your original ip address and protect you from threats)
2)Speed increasing the net

Thanks
Regards..

hmm do u goto or ever have been to college ?
have u ever asked someone to sign ur attendance ?
have u ever heard of that being called a "proxy" ?
if u have then explaination is very simple

it literally means doing something for someone else

a proxy address would do something that my address requests it to do
say my address has a certain port blocked ..
i can use a proxy and it would forward those requests and then forward the reply to me

proxies are not used jsut for that tho ...
since the proxy does ur requesting for u .. ur ip cannot be found ( well not that easily anyways )

Default Use of proxy

A proxy server stands between the browser and the internet. It has several utilities--
1) To share a single internet connection among several computers.
2) To cache the most accessed pages which speeds up the browsing.
3) To implement different restrictions on clients.

There is nothing illegal in using a proxy but it has almost no effect on a stand-alone machine. In a client server environment it is more useful.

The proxy server can be integrated with a firewall.
The linux OS has a built-in proxy server known as squid.
For windows OS, win-Proxy is a populer one.
You can try out a good free proxy server at www.analogx.com
