Information about RAM & Hard Disks

What is the difference between DDR RAM & DDR2 RAM & between IDE & SATA Hard disks. Please provide all the technical details about these. Actually I am planning to buy DDR RAM & IDE Hard disk but some of my friends suggested me to go for DDR2 & SATA disks. That's why I am asking this question. Actually I am a newcomer in this field so, I don't know much about them. 8)

well for helping u must specify ur comp specs. As for the RAM, it is highly unlikely that ur mobo supports DDR2 RAM, so u can buy ur DDR RAM.

Yes u r system maynot support the DDR@ memory...anyways what is u r system config?

Well if u bought a high end pc abt this yr ur pc may support DDR2. Let us know abt the model no. of ur Mother board and company so that we can help.

Also to know that if ur motherboard supports SATA you have to tell us abt the model no of ur motherboard!

If it's an Intel based system then you can think about DDR2 provided your motherboard supports it.
If it's an AMD system, forget about DDR2. AMD systems supports DDR only, if you are not happy with DDR, try RD provided your motherboard supports it.

Now if your motherboard supports any thing other than PATA HDD, I would strongly recommend you a SATA-II HDD (3.0 GB/s). SATA 3 GB/s gives you phenomenal multi-drive performance and some single drive cache hit performance on top of it all.

Yes, ur mobo supports DDR2, also SATA.

I'll suggest u get DDR2 and SATA both,
Though it does not support SATA2, this is not welcome, because with transfer rates of 300Mb/s SATA2 is huge improvement over SATA with 150Mb/s.

Whereas SATA is not big improvement over IDE 133Mb/s.

But i would strongly recommend SATA, better airflow, and if u've got money, i mean extra money, u can get sata DVD writer, i dont know if it's available here, but on second thought i think leave it, it's not worth.
