ipod batter recharge

my friend told me that ipod battery has got a recharge life time of just 500 times...
is that true?? or just another bhakwas bit of talk?

I dont think its true as I charge it daily + ipod gets fully charged in 4hrs and even if u keep it connected it doesnt harm in anyway...
