Icon woes ! ! !

Want 2 set icons on my personal cds ... have created icon by renaming .bmp files 2 .ico (32*32 pixel size)... bt cant get trasparent or white icons ... ie icon has a black bg ...


how do i create transparent or white bg, icon ??? ie removing black bg ...
