Default MS anti-spyware


whenever i try to run the auto-updater of microsoft antispyware the program hangs
i'm not sure whether it is updating the definitions or not...
i'm using the beta version 1.0.614
what can be wrong?

It will take some time.wait for 10 to 15 minutes in dailup.

Check your firewall.... See whether you have given access to antispyware?

what can be wrong?
it seems to get hanged, if u open any other windows while its updating. wait patiently, and it wud finish in a while.. it takes too much memory, its the reason i guess...

Yup buddy,the same thing hapend to me as well while updating the definitions.Jus wait for sum time and while the updates r downloaded PLZ DO NOT OPEN any other window or perform any task like browsing the net etc...as it interferes with the downloading process of the ANTI SPYWARE...another flaw in this MS version..

U can also try LAVASOFT's ADWARE and SPYBOT Search & destroy..these 2 s/wares u can use simultaneoulsy on ur system and they will not conflict with each other..and if in case sum adware is not detected by one then the other will surely detect it..and visa versa try it its the best combo..

the autoupdater uses a lot of resources, while updating it my CPU useage reaches to 76%, be patient and wait a while

U no need to run update.just live as it is.it will update(auto)

you're instructing me to use "adware"....lol
anywayz no problem ..got ur message
i'm already using ad-aware and spybot
but they don't provide real time protection (msas claims to)...or do they?

yeah u guys were right

gave it a try again...with a little more patience
this time it worked....
