Default Intend to use many fonts

i intend to use many fonts..infact i have over 1000 fonts in a CD but not in my harddrive.
will installing more fonts decrease the speed of my computer?
is there a way to preview and use the fonts from CD or another drive..without actually installing them in the system folder?
i want to use the fonts for my adobe creative suite2

Default

Drastically reduces ur speed if u keep more than 500~600,
use a font and then discard it if not needed ny more...

If u have XP then just double click and the font will show,

About CS2, i too have it and it initializes all fonts so it will hang unless u have a good rig...
