Default Need help to assemble a PC ;) !!


Hi guys....

I need to assemble a good mobo for all types of needs like gaming, movies, etc... The trouble is that I have been out of touch with the digital world for almost 1.5 yrs. and when I re-entered it I find that everythings changed!! There r better M/B with dual cpu support, better 64 bit CPU's, better RAMs, better PCI-E tech etc.... I am at a loss to make up my own combo due to this terms;;;; So pls help me out givin me the combo- both budget type n extreme types

What I need is :
A good 64 bit CPU
MB with both AGP n PCI-E support

the rest of the components are up to ya all to advise to me....

so u want to make a HTPC, plz mention if there will be gaming involved or not , as if not then U don't need a PC, buy a 21" TV, DVD Player & surround sound speakers,

Or better yet buy a complete Home theater system

u need 2 assemble a mobo?? mobo==motherboard.
i guess u need 2 assemble a PC? refer 2 previous issues f digit.they had a gr8 configs 4 both categories.

well, i need it for gaming too... n sry bout the mobo term I meant that I want to assemble an entire system!!

N referring digit old edition is not so feasible fer me as I am in college n hardly have time to do a detailed search n match on the configs.... So some help will be appreciated

wats ur budget?dats very imp as u can get a rig from 20 to more den 1lakh so u betta tel us bout de budget.

I would suggest u get a A64 3000+ venice.
MSI RS480M2-IL
atleast 1Gb ram.
and sata HDD

But it's important to know what ur budget is.

well.... my budget comes around R. 50000/- ..... maybe ye can exclude the Speaker system since I already have an earlier Artis 5.1 speaker set

1.AMD64 3200+(939)
2.Asus A8N-E/MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum motherboard.
3.Samsung 17''CRT 793MB or 798 if its available.
4.160GB hitachi Sata2.
5.6600Gt Leadtek/XFX.
6.Antec 400Watt smps.
7.APC 600VA ups.
8.DVD-RW Sony.
9.Microsoft/logitech wired kb & optical mouse.
10.512*2 kingston/Transcend DDR 400MHz Ram.

heyy if the config i hav suggested goes more then 50k which i dun think wil b the case but if still den u can do few thins instead of APC600VA u can go for numeric600VA is gud not as gud as APC but still gud enough.instead of 1GB ram u can go in for 512 rite now and afta sum time u can go for more 512 ram weneva it wil b possible for u.

Dont get ram less than 1 Gb , u'll realize the difference when u play Battlefield or Doom3, becuse of the quantity.

Furthermore, if u get 512 I'm sure u'll get a single 512 Mb stick, and u'll be running it at single channel, this will be a performance killer, Dual channel is a big boost.

okay pals!! Thanks for giving me the config.... Any intel config likewise?? Comparable to this AMD config.... (though I like AMD more for gaming!! )

I was wondering if the Acer 17" monitor is any better than the samsung one? OR will the LG Studioworks be a better option?

nops dun think bout intel go for AMD .Acer is ok not so gud not so bad but u juz cant compare it wid samsung its the best wen comes to monitors.LG is pathetic i hav used it and few dayz bak got rid of dat.go for samsung dun get confused.
