Default No registry???

In Windows 98,

Start>Run>regedit

It gives the following error-

Cannot find file "regedit".Make sure the path n filename is correct/

Moreover, no registry files are executed. Never got this problem before.

What is to be done???

You probably have some corrupted files or corrupted registry entries. Insert your 98 CD. If it loads and displays on the screen click Exit. Then go to Start, Run, type sfc /scannow ,click OK. The program will check for corrupted files and reinstall them.

Check whether you have the regedit.exe file in C:\Windows\ directory. If you find it, double-click on it to check whether Registry Editor opens or not.
Also, check whether RegEdit works in Command Prompt.

BTW, it's only sfc and not sfc /scannow.
