Space Constraints

I have a 140 (60+80) GB HDD with 6 partitions ...

I alloted C drive of 6 GB as suggested by Digit in one of its earlier editions .. but its not enuf for me now .. in that disk only Windows is now running
I even moved the My Documents Folder and re-installed all programs on another partition instead of C:\Program Files default folder
I have only now 182 MB of free space in C drive

Does Windows occupy nearly 6 GB of Hard Disk space .. I keep deleting all of Temp folders and Temp Internet folders but still i have never had more than 300 MB of free space
I even changed the Virtual Memory to another partition

The system runs fine but I am concerned ..

Is thr a way to make this partition a bit bigger by reallocating space from another drive .. Please Help

Check how much space you allocated to system restore function..........

It do happens with me that even though the space is 4 Gb, it shows only me 1.5 GB. I donno why this happens. Is ur hardisk in good condition???

You can try with a tool Partition Magic. I think it does it . I have never tried it though.

no way .. win xp does not occupy 6gb of space.. probably while u were movin/deleting large files,they got fragmented.do a thorough check for disk errors ..that usually fixes such problems with wrong free space reporting.

System Restore was earlier occuping arnd 600 MB .. now i reduced it to 200 MB .. now my C drive has arnd 400 MB free space but still isnt it too much for WinXp to occupy nearly 5.xx GB .

I think its reporting the size wrong because every now and then it shows that your system might become unstable because of low space but even with 80 MB free space and all in C drive the system was stable ...

And for defragmenting dont you need some necessary space (arnd 10% r something) .. so i dont think i can defrag without space

and i'll run thorough disk check also .. thanks neways ..

and my hard disk is .. well arnd 2 years old .. no problems till now

Use SequoiaView to find which files are taking up space on your hard disk.

With SequoiaView u should get diagram like this tell what files u taking how much space. Each rectangle is a file on disk. Just hover ur mouse over rectangle to see the filename in tooltip. Other info about file is displayed at status bar.
make sure to select Show hidden and system files in options to view all files.
