Default I CAN'T DIAL IN TONE MODE

Digit forum members,
I use win xp and smart link sl2800 modem.the problem i am facing is,
whenever I want to connect to net(dialup) in tone mode,I receive long beaps from the telephone exchange(Which we will usually get when there is along pause between two dialed numbers).
I think my modem dials very fast or it skips some numbers to be dialed, eventhoughour ISP(sancharnet)'s exchange is electronic,it supports tone mode and I correctly istalled
the drivers.

How to solve this problem?
How to dial in pulse mode in win XP?

config:
256MB ddr,40GB HDD,p4,intel 845gv chyipset
msi mainboard.

thank u in advance.

Default hi

Hi Nithinks,
I faced the same problem when i first installed my modem. Use the following steps. I hope itshould solve your problem.
1) turn off your comp. - switch on your modem- then turn your comp on.
and yes do not forget to check out if all your connections r according
to the manual.
2) your XP os will automatically detect the modem.
3) Then go to add new hardware tab in the control panel of your pc.
4) place the modem software cd and follow the instructions to install the
modem.
5) once your modem has been installed right click on your My Computer
icon and select the properties.-- then go to the hardware tab -- then
select the device manager tab and go to th modem and right click on
the modem tab. then check all tabs to find something called wait for
dial tone. deselect it.
6) now prepare new connection and ask for the no. to be dialled. user name -- your phone no. --- password --- wahtever u like -- and regardin the no. to b dialed get it checkedform your local operator coz it varies from location to location.
now u r ready 2 use your modem.
try it out. hope it works . worked for me though...
Regards,
Pratik

Mebbe a small switch beneath ur Phone must be set to "Pulse". Turn it towards "Tone".

I think the problem is with tone dialing!!
Goto Control PANEL -> Modem and phone options -> Select ur phone and get properties. Find for "wait for dialtone" it'll be checked -> Uncheck that option and proceed!!

in order to dial in pulse mode in XP,just suffix 'p' to the tel no. u r dialing.
Eg. if the no. is 12345,then in the tel no. field type p12345.
Hope this helps ya.
